From the nationally recognized Summit to our ongoing Mental Health Matters conversations and Distinguished Speakers Series, Help Group provides year-round opportunities for trusted, inclusive learning in-person and online. Help Group and USC Chan Division are advancing occupational therapy through our Occupational Science Initiative. This collaboration develops evidence-based programs for children with autism and sensory challenges, while USC entry-level doctoral residents design and implement therapeutic curricula in our classrooms. Together, we’re creating innovative resources and training that foster growth for students and future clinicians.

MSW & MFTs*

*Practicum placements for therapists

Help Group offers internship opportunities for aspiring social workers and MFTs. In partnership with university programs, like the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work and Pepperdine’s School of Education & Psychology, students receive real-world training that supports their preparation to become licensed social workers and marriage and family therapists. Interns gain valuable experience across our campuses while developing skills in therapy, assessment and program development.

Speech & Language Pathology*

*Hands-on clinical training in communication support

Help Group supports clinical practicum experiences for speech-language pathology students, providing supervised opportunities to assist in delivering treatment and intervention for individuals with diverse communication needs across age levels in educational settings. In partnership with university programs, like the USC Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program, students receive real-world training that supports their preparation to become licensed SLPs. This practicum enriches students’ academic preparation by offering hands-on experience in therapy, collaboration, and building functional communication skills under professional guidance.

Help Group is deeply committed to contributing to the research that informs best practice for autistic, neurodivergent, and developmentally diverse children, adolescents and adults. Through collaborations with leading institutions, our programs serve as living learning environments for studies that advance understanding in language development, social communication, sensory processing, literacy, executive functioning, and more.

UCLA*

*Autism Alliance and Neuropsychology Program

Help Group and UCLA have partnered since 2000 to advance research, assessment, and care for neurodivergent youth. Through the Help Group–UCLA Neuropsychology Program and the Help Group–UCLA Autism Alliance in collaboration with UCLA’s Medical Psychology Assessment Center and the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, this longstanding partnership supports comprehensive assessment, clinical research, education, and the use of evidence-based practices to improve outcomes for children and families.

*Occupational Sciences and Speech and Language

Help Group and the USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy have partnered since 2015 through the Help Group–USC Occupational Science Initiative to develop evidence-based intervention programs for children with autism spectrum disorder and other sensory challenges. Since 2025, Help Group has also partnered with the USC Keck School of Medicine’s Speech-Language Pathology program to further support students’ communication and language development through evidence-based fieldwork training and services.
