REACH*
*Therapeutic services for children
REACH is a unique mental health program that helps children (age 5-11) with behavioral and emotional challenges thrive at home, in school, and in the community. The day rehab intensive services are delivered after school. Through structured, therapeutic activities—like sports, arts, leadership, and team building—our dedicated staff foster social skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving. Families are active partners, and services include individual, group, and family therapy, plus psychiatric support.

*Early Psychosis-Los Angeles
EPI-LA (formerly known as PIER) provides early intervention for adolescents and adults (ages 12–40) who are clinically at high risk for psychosis or have experienced their first episode in the last two years. Through education, assessment, and evidence-based treatment—including therapy, family support, and medication management—we aim to detect symptoms early, prevent progression, and empower families and communities to recognize warning signs and connect to care before serious consequences occur.

*Multisystemic Therapy
MST provides 5 months of intensive, home-based services for youth (ages 12-17) at high risk of out-of-home placement, involved with law enforcement and/or probation, or with a history of substance use. This model works across the interconnected systems in a young person’s life—family, school, peers, and community—to address the underlying causes of behavioral challenges. Our therapists partner closely with families to strengthen relationships and improve school performance.

*Therapeutic Behavioral Services
TBS provides short-term, intensive support for youth under 21 who struggle with severe behavioral challenges. This is a bundled service attached to our therapy, rather than a program offered directly to clients. Working alongside traditional mental health services, TBS helps stabilize behaviors, strengthen coping skills, and support caregivers to prevent placement disruption and avoid higher levels of care. Services are focused on keeping youth safe and successful in their homes and communities.

PEI*
*Prevention and Early Intervention
PEI provides proactive services to help clients and families manage the impact of mental health symptoms and functional impairment before becoming severe. Early Intervention delivers timely, focused, short-term support through Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) modalities such as Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Individual CBT, Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and Seeking Safety. Services include individual therapy and family therapy, case management, and psychiatric support.

*Mental health services for adults
CalWORKs helps parents and caregivers overcome mental health barriers to employment. In partnership with LA County’s Welfare-to-Work Program, we provide therapy, psychiatric support, life skills training, and supported employment services—from job placement to coaching. Our goal is to empower families to achieve stability and economic self-sufficiency through integrated, evidence-based care.
MAT*
*Multidisciplinary Assessment Team
MAT is a collaboration between the Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS), the Department of Mental Health (DMH), and community providers, all designed to ensure the immediate and comprehensive assessment of children entering out-of-home placement.
Wraparound Services*
*Family empowerment program
Wraparound is an intensive mental health program that is child-focused, family-centered, strength-based, needs-driven process that provides access to an array of comprehensive mental health services delivered through a team-based, collaborative approach. Eligibility is based on interaction with county systems and the risk of institutionalization. The program serves children and teens ages 4 to 21.
FSP*
*Full-Service Partnership
FSP provides intensive, at-home, and community based mental health servives for families with a child experiencing severe emotional, psychological, or behavioral problems. This program offers comprehensive, 24/7 support ti improve functioning and prevent hospitalization.
Case Management & Employment Assistance
TCM*
*Targeted Case Management
TCM is an adjunctive, bundled service to assess and address the needs of the client and family in the domains of basic, medical, academic, social/recreational, and legal needs. It involves individualized assessment, service planning, coordination, linkage/referral, and monitoring to help improve quality of life.
IPS*

IPS is an evidence-based approach for CalWORKS clients designed to help individuals with mental health barriers find and maintain competitive jobs.

Advance LA knows parents are an important part of a young adult successfully becoming more independent. Parenting a young adult ages 18-29 with special needs can be draining, frustrating, and isolating. Free virtual support groups are a chance for you to connect with others that share your experience and gain valuable advice and resources.

Our virtual parenting education and support groups convene weekly in the evenings, meeting the requirements for both DCFS and court-ordered parents while being offered in both English and Spanish. Fees for these courses are based on a sliding scale.
