North Hills Prep is a therapeutic school for students with emotional challenges, learning differences, and those on the higher functioning end of the autism spectrum. Serving grades K–12, our program contains individualized academics and a relationship-centered approach rooted in the Neurosequential Model of Education. Students build resilience and the skills needed to thrive as they continue to grow.

Overview

North Hills Prep (NHP) is designed for students who need both academics and understanding. Our teachers and therapists work together to create a safe, supportive environment where learning feels meaningful and achievable. Through lively discussions, hands-on projects, and personalized instruction, students rediscover their love for learning while building essential life skills. Emotional growth is woven into every part of the day, supported by a strong clinical team and behavior specialists. At NHP, we believe that when students feel connected, they can accomplish anything.

Academics & Curriculum

NHP offers a diploma track program tailored to individual goals, from college preparation to practical skill-building. High school students can pursue A-G coursework for university admission or opt for career-focused pathways. Instruction emphasizes relevance, critical thinking, and creativity through Project-Based Learning and technology integration. Students gain proficiency in tools like Google Classroom, PowerSchool, and software for design and media production. Every class is an opportunity to build knowledge, confidence, and a sense of purpose.

NHP uses Dr. Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model to support emotional and cognitive development.

Students participate in daily Transition Planning classes focused on life skills and current events.

Weekly individual and group therapy sessions are available to certain students.

Clubs include Anime, Gay-Straight Alliance, Hiking, and Literary Club.

Students are able to enjoy outdoor education and cultural field trips.

College and career planning begin in eighth grade with transition planning and campus visits.
