President and CEO

Dr. Susan Berman is the President and CEO of Help Group, a pioneering nonprofit organization dedicated to education, mental health, and supportive services. With a career spanning more than four decades, Dr. Berman’s strategic vision, commitment to innovation, and passion for serving individuals with diverse needs have helped shape Help Group into one of the nation’s most comprehensive and respected organizations of its kind. Under her leadership, Help Group now serves more than 25,000 children, adolescents, and adults annually.

Dr. Berman’s career has been defined by her deep commitment to serving the needs of the community as well as her relentless pursuit of excellence in program development and delivery. She has led the creation of an integrated network of services that includes nine specialized day schools; therapy and mental health programs; vocational training and employment services; residential facilities; arts and recreation programs; and lifelong learning opportunities. Together, these programs provide coordinated, person-centered care designed to support individuals across the lifespan and help them reach their limitless potential.

Central to Dr. Berman’s leadership is her unwavering belief in recognizing and celebrating the strengths and abilities of individuals with differences. Her guiding philosophy of “windows, not walls” reflects a commitment to inclusion, opportunity, and full participation in society rather than isolation or marginalization. This vision continues to inform Help Group’s mission and drive its ongoing success.
