A Grand Reopening: Silverlining Returns to Help Group

Silverlining on-campus store came back to life on April 24th with a reopening that turned into a full celebration. The student-run resale boutique returned to Help Group with music, food, and a strong sense of pride in what the students had built.

Silverlinings is a boutique run by Help Group’s Bridgeport Vocational Center students, designed to give them hands-on experience in a real retail setting while building skills they can use beyond school. The reopening marked a milestone for the program and for the students who helped bring it back.

“We founded Silverlinings to give students real-world vocational experience in a supportive environment where they can build confidence and prepare for greater independence,” shared Help Group CEO Dr. Susan Berman.

Students led every part of the event. They set up the boutique, managed all operations throughout the day, and welcomed guests as the celebration unfolded. They also joined a ribbon cutting ceremony with the CEO to officially reopen the space.

The energy stayed high throughout the day. Wayne and Matthew from Bridgeport DJed live sets that kept the space upbeat while students, staff, and visitors shopped and spent time together. Lulus, the student-run snack shop, also stayed open and operated smoothly under student management.

Members of the Beauty by Jenna (a makeup brand founded by one of our Help Group alumni) team stopped by to show their support and celebrate alongside students.

Students stayed fully involved from start to finish. They ran stations, helped guests, handled sales, and kept the boutique running throughout the event. As the day went on, their confidence and ownership were clear in every part of the experience.

“The reopening of Silverlinings was a wonderful reflection of our students’ talent and dedication. They took ownership of the event and showed such pride in their work throughout the day,” added Dr. Berman.

By the end of the day, Silverlinings felt fully active again, shaped by student leadership and shared excitement across Help Group.
